Over That There Rise, What Eggs Me Onward, Forward Ho

I believe a robot should be a practical tool able to perform everyday tasks, and also make our lives better.

User-friendly robots for home and small business, while still down the road, are on the way. Much like my wife and hiking partner who always wants to see what's over the next rise, the path to autonomous personal robots draws me, eggs me, beckons me onward. As they say, getting there is half the fun!

While many design and functionality milestones have been reached, the question regarding the exact tasks with which end users will accept robotic help is yet undecided. The future of robotics is as undiscovered as were the web and social networking when they began gaining traction.

As I see it, needed ingredients to truly useful robots are:

• Effective robot control software


• Affordable, strong and reliable robot actuators


• Enthusiastic contributors

Speaking of contributions, here are my plans:

• Create and deliver potently functional, yet affordable robots


• Release effective robot actuators (arms, grippers and such)


• Empower people to learn and create robotics solutions


• Have fun and share the adventure of robotics

Robotics is one of hi-tech's hottest sectors, and recent advances have been staggering. I believe those laboring to bring added value and functionality to robots are improving our future, and I'm all over that. You build on our advancements; we build on yours: together, we empower others.
